Baviaans-Kouga 4x4 trail
the " 4x4 Adventure Entrance into the Baviaanskloof"
Baviaans Lodge, wilderness destination at the heart of this travel route, is the starting off point of the 4x4 trail that heads off into the Baviaanskloof. Built in a true pioneer spirit, the Lodge is a remarkable destination in its own right, offering the traveller a welcome bed and amazing meals, just what the nature lover and 4x4 traveller needs ! Outstanding Baviaans accommodation.
The trail is some 34 km long, a winding jeep track, climbing from 250 m altitude to just over 1100 meters at its highest point, offering stunning mountain vistas in all directions, unique fynbos displays, many cycads as well as other spectacular natural features.
An all year round trail , graded 2-3 in places, and travelled in both directions ,
Payment if starting in the Baviaanskloof from Rus en Vrede, stop at the farmhouse and pay for the 4x4 trail section. this can be undertaken by 2x4 bakkies with diff lock and an experienced driver behind the wheel, in dry conditions. Enough time needs to be allowed to appreciate this trail, with its many photo opportunities. Stops for picnics are allowed en route, its a must stop opportunity, BUT ABSOLUTELY NO FIRES or LITTER AT ALL !
